Upcyled vinyl record jewelry
I have been playing with these upcycled LP cuff for six months, throwing many away in the creative process. I first bake them at 225 degrees for 10-12 minutes on a cookie sheet until they are "flimsy" enough to cut without difficulty. I used regular scissors, but it was difficult to cut a straight line. I finally graduated to an old fashion paper cutter with the big handle. It makes a great straight line. One album yields four cuff bracelets if four cuts are made on the album. The albums must be cut while the vinyl is still warm and "flimsy". I then immediately wrap the piece around a glass bottle or skinny jar to form it in the shape of a cuff. If the cuff does not cool correctly, put it back in the oven a few seconds and reform. I decided to use some of the resin pendants I had recently made. Unfortunately, getting them to stick to the vinyl LP proved to be a chore. After numerous attempts at gluing, I discovered epoxy resin! I scuff up the cuff a bit with sandpaper and mix the two part resin together and put a dab on the cuff and on the pendant. After 24 hours, the pendant is completely set on the vinyl! I haven't lost one yet!

Contributor's Note
For those not in the know, "upcycled" means taking an old item and reworking it into a new and "prettier" or more useful product.
